The 'Current' is a multi impact helmet designed to be compatible with a wide range of head sizes. This helmet is designed in four layers. Multiple Impact Shell, A Liner: EVA foam, B Liner: polyurethane sub-shell, and C Layer: EVA Foam. The final foam layer is provided in four different sizes. Each piece can be interchanged using our Velcro system to provide you a custom fit. This WRSI helmet has been introduced to combine safety and style at an affordable price for everyone. The 'Superior Retention System' and the multiple and removable shims helps keep the helmet in place. Fits head sizes ranging from 54 cm to 59 cm in circumference. All shims are included so one size and some adjustments will fit most. Fits head circ. of 54cm-59cm (hat size of 6 3/4 to 7 3/8) The motivation for this project originated from the results of a fatal kayaking accident to Lucas Brandon Turner, who died on the North Fork of the Payette River in Idaho on July 12, 1998, due to the failure of a commercially available helmet to protect his head from blunt trauma. His father, Gil Turner, established the Institute of Whitewater Research & Safety as a nonprofit foundation dedicated to making whitewater recreation a safer sport. As such, the resulting helmet represents the culmination of the 4 year Whitewater Head Impact Protection Project (WWHIP) cosponsored by the Institute and Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD.
